Hardneck garlic ... softneck garlic

You know the expression, 'When you know, you know'?

If you are visiting this page, you know it's because hardneck garlic varieties have the best flavor profiles! Softneck garlic - usually what's in stores - doesn't compare in any way!

And with hardneck seed garlic from Jerry's Garden,
you can grow your own!

Bulb size

Here's what I tell people....
In the garlic world, size matters. You can plant any size garlic clove - but the clove size you plant is one of the biggest determining factors of the bulb size you'll harvest.

So, if you want large bulbs at harvest time, buy large seed garlic.
Quantity
The ultimate thing you need to determine is the number of cloves you want to plant.

The chart below will tell you how many estimated cloves per pound or per sampler rope. And your planting bed size determines how many cloves you need.
For help on the math for calculating the number of cloves you need, see Cloves per Sq Ft calculator section (p4) of my Growing Garlic Up North PDF just below this seedstock chart.
