You guessed it from its name, warm season vegetable plants like warmer weather. So, it's best to wait until the soil warms up nicely, planting them at least a week or two after last average frost, which is April 27 here in Grant.

What's cool about warm season veggies is that once established most of these varieties will produce well into fall! You'll also see winter squashes (butternut, acorn, etc.) on this page. You do plant them now, but you will have to wait until almost fall to harvest and enjoy them : )
So start looking for recipes for all the wonderful fresh summer veggies you'll be harvesting before you know it!
